FLASH: Initial Ideas for Soundtrack

My original idea was to use this piece of piano music, 'Heart and Soul' because I felt it was a very sweet tune.

However, coming up with ideas to storyboard and then animate proved difficult. I tried to animate a piano type thing across the canvas that changed colours on each key on certain beats but it proved to be too difficult for me to manage.

FLASH: Influences

For this project, I was not looking towards one particular artist, but rather to a collection of images I found throughout the internet, which are unfortunately, unsourced.

I enjoy the simplistic shapes of the cats here and created my own from the influence these images left on me.

I love the simplistic sketchiness here and tried to recreate it as best I could in Flash.

I found this next image not long after animating my project and I was struck by how similar it was, as well as beautiful and this image prompted me to add a texture to my sky, to give it more depth.

This image is called Blue Night and is by gobugi (http://www.gobugipaper.co.kr/)

FLASH: Final Soundtrack

The sound I chose to use is called Game Over from the One Year Older album for the webcomic  Homestuck which was released August 2012 on Bandcamp.

I chose this song because it brings out a lot of emotions for me because of the connection to my favourite webcomic it has. It feels sad and yet bittersweet. That the end of something has come but that's okay.

It was the twinkling sound throughout the song that influenced me to add stars. For a while, I wasn't sure what else I could do to get across the rest of my feelings about this piece of music. It stayed this way till I found the images shown in my influences and I got the idea to have a cat looking up at the stars before flying off into them to become a star itself.

I wanted to show that the cat was not alive so I did only the outline and did not fill him in with colour or make him particularly ghostly. Just an outline that flies off and out of sight, then twinkling like the rest of the stars in the night sky.

I cut the section of music from the song that I wanted to use using an online service which allowed me to fade in and out from the piece. The reason I did not use the sound booth for this was because unfortunately, I was suffering from ill health.
